Fentanyl Addiction: Side Effects & Rehab Treatment

Dealers sell these drugs, plus counterfeit Percocet and Xanax pills, often mixed with fentanyl. Naloxone/naltrexone are robust opioid antagonists that function by blocking µ-receptors. The FDA has approved these antidote medications for emergency treatment of patients with known or suspected opioid overdose experiencing respiratory and/or central nervous system (CNS) depression. Common routes of naloxone administration include IV, IM, IN, or subcutaneous (SC).

Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs called the incidents in his state “acts of terrorism to threaten our elections.” Elections offices in two Washington counties — King and Okanogan — also received suspicious envelopes while processing ballots during the August primary, and the letter sent to King County tested positive for traces of fentanyl. In Seattle, King County Elections Director Julie Wise said that letter appeared to be the same one her office got — and that it was “very similar” to one King County received during the August primary, which also contained fentanyl. “I think that we would have adopted ideas of safety through school and not through having to actually experience times of danger,” Myers says. Myers says he wishes he and his peers had had access to drug curriculums like this when he was in high school.
